The Writing Center has gone 100% online! While we cannot offer in-person tutoring sessions this semester due to the pandemic, we are pleased to offer appointments conducted online, either synchronously (via online appointments) or asynchronously (via etutoring). When you sign up for your appointment, please indicate whether you would like an online or etutoring appointment. We encourage you to experiment with both options to determine what works best for you!

New Combined Scheduling: If you've visited us in the past, you may be used to signing up for tutoring based on your home campus. To better serve all Fordham students this semester, we have combined the schedules of the Rose Hill and Lincoln Center writing tutors. Students from either campus may make an appointment with whatever tutor they choose, based on availability, regardless of home campus.

How synchronous appointments work: If you choose an Online synchronous appointment, you will be speaking with one of our excellent, highly trained tutors in real time via our online Writing Center system. To ensure a successful synchronous appointment, we ask that you take several steps. When you make your appointment, please upload your paper and assignment/prompt. Please make sure your computer's speakers and camera are turned on. Once the meeting begins, you will be able to join via a Zoom link in your appointment box on our website. You and your tutor can then use video chat, screen share, and other Zoom functions to look at your paper together.

How asynchronous appointments work: If you choose an Etutoring asynchronous appointment, you will not be speaking with your tutor in real time. Instead, your paper will receive written feedback within 24 hours of the start time of the appointment from one of our trained consultants. To ensure a successful etutoring appointment, we ask that you take several steps. First, please make sure you upload your paper and the assignment/prompt before the scheduled start time to ensure the tutor has your paper. To upload your paper, please click the appointment box and scroll down where you will see a place to attach a document. You must upload your paper before your scheduled appointment time or your appointment will be marked as a "no-show" and canceled. Within 24 hours from the start time of the appointment, the tutor will review your paper for the allotted time (30 or 60 minutes) and will then upload a copy of the paper with their written feedback for you to download and view. You will receive an email notification that your appointment has been modified or that someone has responded to your paper. At this time, please return to your appointment box on the schedule to download a copy of your paper with the tutor’s feedback.

The Fordham Writing Center will reopen for the Fall 2020 semester in an online-only capacity. We will not be conducting any in-person appointments this semester.
